Project 3

100yr old home with tin ceiling

I was called to help a client to restore their 100+year old home in Mosman Park to its original glory. The client really wanted the style of the decorative plaster cornices to reflect the same era but wasn’t sure of which design would work best.

The house had 3 large bedrooms, an entry, kitchen and lounge room which featured original decorative ceiling panels made from tin. As I have a thorough understanding of decorative styles from different eras, I was able to recommend a design that would fit in well with the tin.

Several hours were spent preparing the surface to reduce cracking and ensure long-life of the cornices. Installation required a screw, glue and cement approach as nothing else reliably adheres to tin.

The client really wanted to be able to celebrate Christmas with his family in the new home and was struggling to find a quality craftsman who could get it done on time. I am committed to producing quality work and exceptional customer service, so I was happy to work weekends and out of hours to ensure it was ready in time.

The client celebrated Christmas in his new home and was very grateful and delighted with the end results.
